Fires of Drawings

On November 21, 2020, I declutter my studio with an annual sorting of drawings. I burn the ones not retained. Also, I film the last drawing burning instantly. From there, I create a video in loops evolving by successive transformations.

On March 18, 2021, I continue this ritual by first destroying all the drawings from the 1990s, then the notebooks from the last twenty years. Finally, I take from the ashes a fragment of a notebook.

I conclude this symbolic gesture on May 4, 2021 by photographing the ashes of this last fire and then I color them.
