Forest, River and Refuges
Centre plein air Bec-Scie – Contact Nature, Saguenay, May to September 2022
This residency consists of walking in the forest to familiarize me with the native flora. I learn to identify plants, their specificities and ecosystems, accompanied by a reference book, sketchbook and camera, with the additional expertise of the guide-interpreters. At the same time, artistic elements will be integrated into the site, in order to generate an unexpected encounter with art among hikers. Thus, twenty digital prints chosen by the Centre’s team are exhibited in the reception chalet according to the location of their choice. Also, the Heron refuge houses four small silk squares hanging from the ceiling, two digital prints affixed to the windows, three circles expressing the echo of the river and an atypical pine cone made of clay alongside natural cones. In addition, there are interventions through September, including a composition on a wood shed.
This project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the City of Saguenay and the Conseil des arts de Saguenay within the terms of the Entente de partenariat territorial en lien avec la collectivité du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean 2021-2022.
