The Ecology of Lines

Galerie l’Œuvre de l’Autre, Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, Saguenay, 2017

“[…] the hare. […] It seems that his gaze pacifies the Universe. ” D’Annunzio, Fire.

For this exhibition, I traced the vegetal veins of the plants around me. Later I multiplied these lines with the intention of creating new complex structures that refer to organic, cerebral and cartographic dimensions. My interest in the territory and the notion of inhabitation is concretized through the construction of miniature shelters and the reproduction of hydrographic maps of the Saguenay region. This creative research has as its theoretical basis the idea of an ecology of the line, as expressed by the anthropologist Tim Ingold, for whom we live in a world of lines,

This project received financial support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec through a Research and Creation grant.
